Power Cut!

The local power company stopped the power for 8 hours last Sunday in order to carry out maintenance work on the lines. How did our intrepid young writers cope?

On the day that the power cut Inoka and I sat in my airy room thinking what we should do to day. We went outside thinking blankly about what we could do. We sat on the step out side and we saw some kids playing touch so me and Inoka went down the road and had a game. After the game me and nooks went back up to my house to see if the power was back on but it still wasn’t on. So we sat there for a little while and then nooks goes into the kitchen and then heard the fridge turn on. And then he ran into the room and said that the power was on so we had a quick game and then got a ride up to his house. Then they had a fire going and I said to nooks “We should have gone up to your house - it would have been better!”

It was at 7:45 in the morning when I started to play ps2 with my new game Smack down vs. raw 2008 then ZAP! The power went off then I started swearing in my bed room. So we decided to go to the beach. We went and got some pipi’s and went for a fish and we caught a big snapper then we went home. I don’t know how to live with out any power that mean’s no computer no ps2 no cooking. When the power came on I cooked my lunch. The next morning was normal.

On Sunday it was really boring because I usually make me some breakfast and watch TV. But I couldn’t because there was no power.

So me and my sister went into the garage to play darts. But after awhile it got boring so we went back inside.
Later on we went down to the rugby fields because there was meant to be a family day out because of the power cut. There was meant to be a game of touch and a bouncy castle and sausage sizzle. But there wasn’t. They were playing net ball. But I don’t like net ball and there wasn’t a bouncy castle because it had a hole in it. So I went home and then the power came back on. So everything was back to normal.

During the power cut my two cousins my friend J and I went on the moter bikes for a ride it was exciting. We went for a ride around the beach and up the road later on my uncle was driving around on the truck so he tried to get past us but my cousin J and I were cutting him off on the moter bikes so he couldn’t later that day we all went to see my sister at the bus stop then my cousin T and I were trying to ride my cousin J's moter bike it was a Banshee it was hard and we kept stalling it we started finally after we had finished stalling it we started riding it around after that J wanted to go to the shop so I went with her when we were coming back from the shop we had two big bags of food it was hard holding them because they were almost slipping out of my hands that day was a very exciting day.

Monsters and other things

Here aresome more offerings:

In the 1970s these people were making a bridge in Thailand they were making bridge to go from Thailand to Laos. While they were making the bridge the people saw a big monster then the people jumped off the bridge to catch this dragon the dragon looked like a snake and an eel joined together. After a little while the people had caught the monster the monster was 14.7 meters long and the people were so stupid they ate the dragon and the people that ate it died in a week. 34 people died and 23 lived and the river was called MeKong River.

………………The LEGEND of the Loch Ness MONSTER……………

People say that the monster is real and some say that it is fake me I don’t know .But I am going to find out. There are a lot of storeys about the Loch Ness and so there should be. The man who made a submarine to look like the monster .He took a picture of submarine and sold it to the newspaper and made a lot of money. That was 73 years ago. But I’m talking about now. Some would like to believe in the Loch Ness. Some don’t. But one thing is for sure that the Loch Ness is still a mystery.

Skating
Last week on Wednesday it was half a day. So I went for a skate with my mates. We first went down to the bowl and skated there for awhile. Then we got thirsty so we went down to pak n save to get drink. And round the back were some stairs that we could ollie off. There were five stairs that I had to ollie off and I landed it. Only me and Hayden landed it but when Marlin tried he put a crack on the bottom of his board. So we went back to the bowl and had a little skate there. Then we got thirsty so we went back to pak n save for a drink. We got hungry so we went to van dans for a feed. And then went back to the bowl. I then learnt how to get air out of the bowl. And I started to get higher air than Evi he started to get jealous. So after my skate I went home.

What it has been like for me in Kaitaia

January 27th 2007 was when I first moved to Kaitaia which is in the north island of New Zealand. When I first moved up here I didn’t want to move up but it was because of my mum's job and my mum wanted to move back closer to her home town Kaikohe or close to there any way recently I found out that we are moving back to Auckland as soon as my mum said that I said no im not moving again but my mum got the best of me and now we are moving I don’t want to move because everyone makes me feel welcome here because every where else we moved my life became hard and I couldn’t adapted properly but since I have lived here in Kaitaia I have improved in every thing I didn’t know before but now I do and my mum can’t see that like I can see.. My last day at Kaitaia College is next Monday on the 5th of November my class and my house group want to throw a farewell lunch but no one remembers so that ok if I don’t get one but for the first time in my life I know I belong some where? Anyway I don’t want to leave my friend P as I know she will have to hang out with someone else. But I will be coming back up to Kaitaia in Christmas time. Hope everyone for the future good luck and this is my last time writing for the Blog...

World Cup

In case you did not know, the Ruby World Cup has been played in the last month.
Most of the class were supporting the All Blacks.
Mr Bryan is from England .... it was all going end in tears for at least some of us.

We wrote about some of the early games:

The first team that All blacks played was against Italy and we smash them 76-14. And the next team that we are playing is Portugal and I think the score will be 50-7 so they are in for a hell of a day. I think that the all blacks could have done better but they didn’t want to make the Italians look like fools. The good thing about New Zealand’s pool is that we will make it to the finals no sweat. And I know that we will win the cup and bring it back to where it belongs.
By EO

The All Blacks first game was against Italy and it was a great win. The score was 76/14. And they were all great tries. The first two tries were from Captain Richie Mc Caw and it was in the first seven minutes. The next try was from Dougy Howlett in the corner set up by the backs. He scored another two after that. The centre Mils Mulieiena scored a try right under the post set up by Daniel Carter with a chip over the Italians heads. And there were a lot more after that. The next team for the All Blacks to beat are Portugal on the 15th of September and I think the score will be 92/10 to the All Blacks

Fun Run

We have not put anything on the blog for a while, so it is time to give our many readers something new to read.

Last Thursday was the annual Kaitaia College Fun Run, where .... let SM tell you how it works:

Today I came to school. I went to house group and the teacher said that I had to do the run I was #1. So I had to run up the hill. When I started I was full of nerves. When It was time to start all the seniors boosted up the hill I was at the back of the pack when I got to the top I was so puffed out then I got on the bus and the bus was packed! Then I caught the bus back to school and I was still tired and now I am sitting typing on the computer.

_________________________________________________________________

In the past few days I have been at my auntie’s and Cousin O it was fun because it is better than at my house. I played the x box and computer on the computer I played age of empires conquers. I helped around the house. Also on age of empires the conquers I had 3 ally’s and I was against 4 other enemies and the enemy’s came over to my base and killed all my units and warriors. I only had 1 female villager and so while my base was being attacked I fled over to my ally’s base and build another town centre and so I made a huge army and killed all the other teams. I am victorious!!!!!!!!!

Music and Talentquest

Last week it was very quiet in the grounds of the College at lunch-time. Not because it was the holidays, nor because of an illness that had struck down 90% of the pupils. The reason was Talentquest. Let WI explain:

TALENT QUEST

The last couple of days I went to the talent quest. There were a lot of performers singing, dancing acting instrumental bands and a lot more. They were all great. But there were only a few that I really liked. That was the dances and the singers. If I was up there I would get my skateboard and start doing some real cool moves. I would kickflip, varial kickflip get out some grinds and start board sliding and 50 50s, and then I would finish off by ollying off the stage. But I get stage fright so I wouldn’t be able to do my moves because I’ll be too nervous.

Music
My favourite music/ group is hip hop because they have some cool moves when their dancing and they are good at singing I also like this music because it’s the sort of music my Friends, Family and I like listening to.The only things my Family doesn’t like in hip hop is all the swearing in it but we still listen to it especially reggae.

Plays

This week we have been looking at plays and trying to write our own scripts.

The task was to pick two famous people who might meet. Describe what they are like, how they came to meet, what they said and then what happened.

Here are two of the results:

Jim carry is a man who like’s to make people laugh.Tony hawk’s is a person that likes to skate and has heaps of fans.
Jim was walking down the road. Tony hawks was riding down the road and he tripped up on a rock and went flying into Jim carry. And he got up.
Mr H: “Are you alright? Sorry about that”
JC: “It’s alright! Where were you going to in a rush?”
Mr H: “ I was going to the skate park. would you like to come too and maybe I could show you a few moves if you like Jc” sorry I don’t think I’ll be able to make it
MR.H” why’s that JC”
“I was planning to meet some friends for lunch
“that’s all right.”
They just go of and do there own thing.

Lotto Win

If I won a million dollars

I would give 1000 dollars each to my brothers and sisters. Then I would give 10 grand to my parents. And spend the rest on my self. I would buy me a real flash 2 storey house and get a 50 inch TV with a PS3 and all the latest games and my very own skate park in the back yard. Then I would build my own restaurant and be the head chef there. So I make more money. And then I would bye me a Hummer and do it up. And if I have any money left I would go travelling.

Week 3

In the last 2 weeks we have looked at newspapers and the reasons why we read them. We also had a visit from the inventor of Krumping - Tommy the Clown. He came to visit the whole school, not just our class. In case you haven't heard of Tommy before, I will post a link to a clip from YouTube below the student's work:

Sports report : The Warriors v The Knights

Boom the warriors win a gain a push there spot to fourth making this the best Warriors squad in five years. With Wade scoring two tries a same as Rovelli and then with Steve Pries getting his first ever runaway try. 24-4 at half time, it’s like it can’t get any worse for the Knight then what it is but it dose when Vatuvei gets an 80 meters try with Jarome getting one right after him. Making it 52-10 at full time now giving the a good chance of semis .

Tommy the krumping clown

Tommy the krumping clown is very energetic person and first started krumping in 1992 after he served time in prison but Ever since tommy the krumping clown has served time in prison when he came out he realised that there are better things out there than just drugs, alcohol and gangs.
Tommy the krumping clown has set an example for not just me but a lot of Americans but for a lot of people at Kaitaia College.
Today was the best time I’ve had at school since primary.
Tommy the krumping clown put on the best performance I’ve ever seen .His performance was very entertaining because it had a lot of krumping, hip hop and brake dancing. Tommy the krumping clown doesn’t just perform by himself but with four other great Krumpers there names are Larry, Rocky, King Tai and Casper.

New Class

Hello again!

Term 3 started on Monday, and with it a new Language class.

One of their goals is to get more hits on the blog than the first group.

The first computer writing session involved producing 200 words on either themself or the recent flooding that has struck Kaitaia.

Here is the first completed piece of work:

Flooding

Big water rising moving so close up to the garage going higher and higher so me and my family gathered up together and started to move everything that we had out of the garage. Looking out the window at my sister’s friend’s house knowing that they wouldn’t get flooded out going from inside to out. Carrying everything that was in the garage inside the rain that I was hearing going louder and louder.Water crashing up against the front door step.I was trying to help my dad.

The water was getting closer and closer everything was finished. My mum making us some pizza so we get warm watching TV and playing games so we didn’t get bored keep looking out side seeing all the water blocking up the drains the roads getting covered up so the drivers couldn’t see the road each and every single car driving slow across the water. Watching the news as they said 80 people have been evacuated from Kaitaia not knowing what or who they were all I heard is they had came to Kaitaia college to sleep for a few nights. But in the morning it was all over.

Myths

In the last few weeks we have been reading myths from around the world. Myths are stories that feature super-natural events, heroes, and gods. They are stories from long ago that tell us something about life. We read a Celtic myth about Cuchilainn who was a great warrior who ended up killing his own in battle. We have read some Maori myths : how Tama Rereti made the night stars and how Maui trapped the sun.

We have also tried to write our own myths. Here are some of the class ones.

Kahe and her new born son set up themselves for a long journey together through the sea water as there needed to be a high born lady to lead the tribe. Kahe herself was as scared as her son, they set off down the misty beach where her kaumatua set around them to pray for them while they accomplished their tribes dream.
Asking her tipuna to watch upon them selves while passing any creatures, kina spikes while walking on rocks, scary currents as they are changing directions. Entering the choppy waves, Kahe’s skin turns prickly as they start their journey along freezing blue water. Getting half way between the currents, her son almost getting as purple as who knows, Kahe quickly changes stroke and says to her son “Be strong, never fail!”.
Arriving at the final destination where people are still sleeping she sneaks up slowly and grabs a cloak as her baby is not breathing. The people quickly warm him up and she starts to breast feed him. They didn’t know why they went but they needed to accomplish some dream for their special tribe.

The legend of Tu Whero

Long ago in the time off the gods, there lived a man named Tu whero. He was a quiet warrior but one of the most skilled of the tribe named Wheronui. The tohunga Tukoti
Had dreamed that there would be a great war 3 days later and sure enough the war between Ngatuwhatuako and Wheronui had begun. Tu whero knew the tactics of Ngatuwhatuako as he had fought this tribe before. Tu whero told the chief of Wheronui to take his people to the south east of Kaingaroa and there the people waited as the first half of ngatuwhatuako walked by and found out they had walked into a trap, while tu whero and his men were fighting off the other half of ngatuwhatuako. The war lasted 2weeks before wheronui triumphed over ngatuwhatuako. Tu whero was granted superhuman powers by the gods for his courageous acts and any tribe that had the nerve to even fight Wheronui Tu whero was there to tell them to return to your place or go to the underworld where your soul
Will be tormented for ever.

Back in the day there was a man half man half beast and he couldn’t control his powers so he ended up doing stuff he didn’t want to.

One day a man came to his house and told him that he could help him with his mysterious powers. And that he knew all about what he’s done, how to control them and how he’s learnt to control his powers.

When he told his new master what the people in the village called him and how they were afraid.

His master replied”I’ll call you beast man if you’d like and then you can call me Mike.”

Beast man asked “when do we start training so that I could learn to control them before I do more harm to the people of my village”.

Mike said”tomorrow beast man so get some rest because we’ll get an early start in the morning.

Two months later the beast man learnt how to control them and the people weren’t afraid in the end but still was a little bit afraid and still locked their doors in case he still walks at night.

Games

For the past few weeks, we have used the lesson on Tuesday afternoon to play games. Pupils can choose from a selection of Monopoly, Scrabble, Chess and Draughts.

Games are a great way of interacting with each other, communicating rules and practising conflict resolution. In addition each individual game builds different specific skills. Chess is a personal favourite because it strengthens strategy, preparation and teaches cause and effect in a brutally effective way. For example, if you leave your Queen unguarded, your opponent will take it. Once you have lost your Queen, it is very difficult to win against a player who still has his/her Queen.

Anyway what has all this got to do with literacy?

I can justify Monopoly and Scrabble quite easily, but Chess? There is no reading and writing going on. As an aside, the most popular games in the class are Chess and Monopoly. I decided that we could try writing the rules for the games in Thursday's computer lesson. I was keen to encourage new variations on the old favourites, so check these out.

As always your comments are much appreciated. Welcome to our new readers in the US and Portugal. Whilst not forgetting all our old readers, "Hello to you all".

The aim of the game is to work with your partner and try getting your enemies out of the game.

Deadly Pig Hunt

· Its like snakes and ladders but better because its to do with pig hunting guns and all
· You can have 6 players. Its got 200 spaces at two hundred you finish if you win you get something good
· But there’s some traps on the way. One of the traps is going back 25 spaces and there some goods things too. The best one is getting a gun and moving up 50 spaces.

Game by PW

Snakes and Ladders

It’s really easy all you need is a dice and a snakes and ladders board.

All you need to do is roll the dice and move the counter forward whatever spaces that the number on the dice shows. However if you land at the bottom of a ladder that’s in your box you go up it, but if you land in a box that has a snakes head in it you have to go down the snake.

The winner is the first person that gets to the 100 sqare.

Short Stories

This entry features one completed piece of work. The class was asked to write a 200 word story. They could make up their own theme, or they could use one of two given starters.

Here is what JS wrote:

THE INTRUDERS

As the smoke cleared I could see a gigantic pig with space technology was walking towards me with a alien space gun ready to shot. The gigantic pig had a crew with space guns. They was a gigantic duck, flea, milliped and a roster. They all aimed and
shot luckily I could do matrix I dodged all the plasma ballets but one it hit me right in the nuts man it hurt so much. I went flying back and landed in some white sticky staff.
I got super powers and gave them all a hiding and got me a hot girl friend. 2000000 weeks later the gigantic pig and his crew came back but he had backup this time. He had venom and sand man with him this time so I called up Spiderman and black goblin then the gigantic pig called up green goblin blue goblin and same 100 more gigantic ducks then I called up super man super women and super dog and cat and duck and pig. I went super sayin and done a spirit bomb. “ ha ha I won you suck so just (go back) to your own plant you gigantic pig and other smaller things.

Making Gases

Here are some of the male members of the Language class.

We carried on our work on Science Language by making 3 common gases. Here is how the class described it:

Experiments
On Tuesday we did some experiments on making gases.

We mixed hydrogen peroxide and manganese dioxide and it made oxygen. We put a relit splint in the oxygen and it went into a fire again

We mixed magnesium and hydrochloric acid and it made hydrogen. We tested for hydrogen and it made a little pop when we lit it.

We mixed sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid and it made carbon dioxide. We tested the carbon dioxide and it put the flame out.

____________________________________________________________________

First we got a test tube and then we got some hydrochloric acid and put some magnesium
Then we put our thumb on it and the pressure
Build up was were hard to keep your thumb on.
Then we put some more hydrochloric acid
With sodium carbonate and it was the same
Result as before I think.

Then we put some hydrogen peroxide and
Manganese dioxide which made oxygen
The End.

Bob Marley or Elgar? Who should we listen to when we work?

Sound Experiment

In the second term we are looking at some of the keywords used in the Year 9 Science course. We started off with the words used in experiments:
Experiment
Variable
Control
Fair Test
Plan
Results
Conclusion
Evaluation

The class said that they wanted to do an experiment on music or cooking. So we looked at the effect of music on our work. I include here samples from the classes work unedited. They were asked to write up the experiment using all of the keywords.
__________________________________________________________________
ON TUESDAY THE 24TH APRIL WE DID A EXPERIMENT ON MUSIC, I DID A VARIABLE WORK. I PLAN SOME OF MY WORK, MY SECEND TEST I MADE IT A FAIR TEST. ONE OF US WAS THE CONTROL AND NOT LISTENING TO MUSIC. MY RESULITS WAS TEST 1 38/40 AND TEST 2 35/40. MY CONCLUSION WAS VERY GOOD AND I DIDN’T NEED A EVALUATION.

___________________________________________________________________

On Tuesday we did an experiment to see what music we work better on.
First we planned it and this is what we did….
For Test 1 (Bob Marley) then test 2 (Elgar).
We did the test then got the results and the conclusion.
To see what music what was better we had 2 math test with 40 questions on each and 7 min listening to each music.
We had the control which was S______ (didn’t listen to any music) and we saw if it was a fair test and what the evaluation was.
The results told us that we worked better with the Bob Marley music.
5 people did better in test 1.
2 people did better in test 2 than in test 1.
1 person did the same in both tests.
The control did better in test 2 than test 1.

We did an experiment on music and how it affects us doing work like the variables of our work.
There are two different kinds of music there was reggae and backing music
We had a plan to see the effect on the music had on our work.
The results of the experiment are here….

5 people did better in maths test 1 than test 2
2 people did better in test 2 than in test 1
1 person did the same in both tests
The control did better in maths test 2 than test 1.

We done an experiment on music and how it effects us doing work and also to see the variables
of our work. We had two different types of music, the first type was reggae and the second type was Elgar. The results of the experiment were
out of a maths test which was made up of two math tests.
The results were;
5 people did better in test 1 than in test 2.
2 people did better in test 2 than in test 1.
1 people did the same in both tests.
And the person on control did better in both tests.

We had a plan to see how the music effected our work. The whole experiment was a fair test because we only changed one thing and kept the rest the same. My conclusion was good so I didn’t need an evaluation.

On Tuesday we did an experiment about music to see how we had an effect on music
and the different variable are some people change on different types of music even people that don’t listen to music.
First we planed our music.
The results were 5 people did better in test 1 than in test 2
2 people did better in test 2 than in test 1
1 person did the same in both tests
The control did better in test 2 than test 1.
Conclusion kids work better listing to bob Marley and kids don’t work better than elgar.

Projects

We have spent the last 3 weeks of term working on individual projects. Each pupil in the class chose a subject that they were interested in and then they used the library and the net to find out more about that subject.

On the last Tuesday of term we all had a look at the projects on the digi-projector screen in class and we gave feed-back to the authors. We told them what we liked about their presentation and what they could do to improve it. We also gave each presentation a score out of ten. CN's got the highest total score in the class.

Some parts of the projects are shown below, for your interest and comments.

Hot Rods
Hot rods are mostly about showing off and drags are things that they are good at. Hot rods are very old but they are still very cool and have a lot of people still looking at them.
Lots of hot rods have very cool clubs where a lot of hot rod cars come and show off how cool their car looks and how fast they can go. A lot of hot rods go into town or they go in a city to either show off or get their shopping. Hot rods do not race much they mostly show off.

Boy racers are very fast and some of them are very cool. Boy racers are very good at circuits and sprints and drags and drifts and all other races. Some boy racers have clubs and gangs. Some clubs or gangs have two or more people on the same team and they all gang up on some one else and they make the person crash or they make them spin out. Boy racers show off too much, some go into town, cities and other places - they are cool

Tech9ne

Former rapper Tech N9ne got his start in music in 1998. Early in his career he was in a group called “NNUTT HOWZE”, which he pays tribute to by saying 6688846993.

Movies

A lot of movies are made really well some are bad because they have a low budget.
But movies like King Kong and Lord of the Rings 1, 2 & 3 were made on a big budget which made them such good movies

To make a movie
You need the main actors and extras, film crew, set makers, sound crew and more

Directors
There are heaps of directors and some have big names like
Peter Jackson

Low-riders and boy-racers

Low-riders are cool and so are boy-racers - they’re like both the same. But low-riders just show off with their hydraulics and how cool they are. Boy-racers show off as well, the difference between boy-racers and low-riders are that they both don’t compete with each other because boy-racers have like drags, url, team races, drift and circuits. But low-riders just compete with their looks and how high their hydraulics are. Boy-racers put diesel on the road to make it slippery so they can drift easer and so they don’t slip off the road and crash.

Surfing

You may need to make a bottom turn after the drop to get back into the pocket to set up for another turn or yes in time to get barrelled. Foot and then rotate your weight to the inside rail angling your body toward the wall of the wave. Even out your weight on the inside rail keeping your knees bent and your hips low.

The 64 Chevvy

The 64 Chevrolet Impala has become the gold standard of classic cars lately.
The 64 Impala was a car that was built with option packages that made it attractive
to a family or a hot rodder ,and engine size ranged from the 283 Chevy small
block to the famous 409 Chevy big block. There were a lot of 64 Impala body styles
as well you could buy a 4 door Hard Top ,a 4 door Sedan ,a 2 door Sport Coupe
, 2 door Super Sport, or a 2 door Coverable,
Whitney Houston

I chose Whitney Houston as my fave musician because there is alot of info about her. I love the way she changes her notes when she sings and her powerful singing.

Limericks

This week we had a go at writing limericks. They are funny poems with 5 lines and a pattern of rhyming where the first, second and fifth lines all rhyme, as do the third and fourth lines. Limericks are often a bit rude, but we kept ours clean.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a young lad from Kaitaia
Who put his Gran in the drier
He had no regrets
for he said she was wet
and there was no more room by the fire

(Thanks to Mr Stephenson for that one!)

_________________________________________________________________

There was a girl from Pukepoto
Who broke her sister's photo
Her sister was mad
and made her all sad
So she made her one out of potato.

There was a man on Brotown
He ended up being a clown
He had a small daughter
Who smoked in the corner
And her teeth were ever so brown

(By S)

_______________________________________________________________

Here is a bit of an anti-limerick from C

There was a girl from Kaitaia
who didn't realsie her hair was on fire
She fell on a stake
And got a tummy-ache
But she was a liar!

A girl from Taipa
Noticed the girl from Kaitaia
Was a big fat liar
She noticed there was hair
Over there
On her head
So it couldn't have been on fire.

____________________________________________________________

And finally one from Mr B:

There was a man from Te Kao
Who was trying to milk his cow
He found no milk there
So he tried milking a bear
But the bear just said "Not evenow"

Our class would love to hear your favourite limericks, especially if they are funny and only if they are clean!
Thanks for reading our blog and a big thanks for adding comments.

Haiku

On Monday we had a go at making our own Haiku poems. In case you did not know, they are a Japanese form of verse that have 5 syllables in the first line, seven in the second and 5 in the third. They are often based on the seasons.

Here are some of our attempts. What do you think? Feel free to comment.

We were very pleased to see that our blog has been read in 4 continents.

Athletics Day

Athletics Day was alright.
The march past was alright because we tied with some other group
I took part in all of the sports.
My house group is Trigg One.
I think the day was dump and fun at the same time.

Athletics day was cruise because we didn’t have to do any work.
The march was cool cause we won - Ngarimu hard!
My house group came 13th overall. I think we did pretty good, Ngarimu came 2nd overall.
I reckon the day was COOL!!!!!

Athletics Day was alright. I did two events. The march past was very noisy and lots of fun. I took part in shot-put and long-jump - it was fun.
My house group, Miller 7 came 19th out of 40. I think that the day went really well and it was lots of fun.

Athletics Day was cool because you didn’t have to run. The march past was the bomb because I am in Buck. I took part in shot-put and discus; I came first in both. My House Group is Buck 6 and we came 24th. The day was mean because I won all the house group points.

Athletics Day was cool even though I did not do anything.
The march past was cool I put paint on lots of people.
I took part in watching.
My H.G Buck did well. We came 3rd. I think the day was very cool and I would like to do it again.

Music

I like listening to Bob Marley. My favourite song is “Every Day And Every Night”. I like his music because it is easy to get into. I have got lots of pictures, CDs, towels and posters.

I like listening to Christina Aguilera.
It is a kind of a pop jazz music. My favourite song is ‘Still Dirty’
I like this music because it’s got catchy tunes and it’s really easy to get used to it and I have her new CD ‘Back to Basics’ and it’s a really cool CD.

I like listening to hip hop and rock.
I like 50 Cents and other hip hop singers. One of my favourite hip hop songs is, “You Know That You Are Acting Like A Fool”.
And one of my favourite rock songs is “I Stand Alone".

I like listening to R&B and hip hop
It is my type of music.
My favourite song is “Stanza On”
I like it because when you're down the soft touch of the music can cheer you up and when you're alright you’re in the mood to boogie all-night.
My favourite R&B is UB4o.

I like listening to hip hop music. It is soft touching music.
My favourite song is "Born of Greatness".
I like this music because it’s half Maori and half English.
And also it’s cool how the Maori blends in with the English. The artist for "Born of Greatness" is Aaria.
"My language is my strength, an ornamental grace Ka tu ana ahau, ka uhi ahau e oku tipuna My pride i will show that they know who I am I am a warrior a survivor "
I like listening to hip hop; it is a cool type of music.
My favourite song is ‘Kiss And Say Good-bye".
I like this music because when you’re at a party and you really can’t dance hip hop is really easy to dance to!

Sports Report

The event that I participated in was netball. We played a team but I don’t know what the name of the team was. It was on the South Road courts where netball is usually held.
It was fun! I was getting excited about playing them. So the game started at about 9:00 and it was just for 4 quarters. I was goal shooter for my team and I was against this tall as girl. I couldn’t hardly dodge her so I had to get in front of her to get the ball.
The day ended well because it ended up that we won 27-9 which was a good game for us. I also got most improved player of the day. I was really proud of myself at the end of the day…………

22 February 2007 by S
My name is S and I did swimming sports yesterday. I came third in freestyle.
The junior girls started first and then the junior boys swam.
After our race we were watching every one and some people were fast and some people were there just to look at the boys.

Standing aside waiting … who would win the overall rugby whanua cup? It was the first try and Pukepoto got it, but when Auckland had their first try, they took the lead. All of us were disappointed. My aunty was going mad and my mum was too. They were yelling so loud they couldn’t hear the referee. The more Auckland got tries the angrier we got, but in the end Auckland wasted Pukepoto by 38-12……
